The Curse guide
How to Play The Curse
The Curse is a Wordrush round where the board closes as you play: every accepted word freezes its final tile.
Play The CurseThe fixed round
- A new 4×4 board is yours for 90 seconds.
- Words must be at least 3 letters long and come from the active Wordrush dictionary.
- Each accepted word scores its length squared: 3 letters are 9 points, 4 are 16, and 5 are 25.
Every word leaves a mark
When you submit a valid word, the last tile in its trace freezes. A frozen tile cannot be traced again, so the paths you leave behind shape what is still reachable.
Frozen tiles are disabled and marked on the board. A trace that crosses a frozen tile is rejected and scores 0, but it does not end the round.
In multiplayer the freeze is personal: your frozen tiles block only your traces, and every player builds their own closed paths on the shared board.
When the round ends
The round ends when the 90-second timer reaches zero. In solo play you can choose End Round early; in multiplayer, the host can end the shared round early.
