How to Play Sudden Death Series
Sudden Death Series is a multiplayer-only gauntlet of ten short micro-rounds, where one invalid word gives you a strike.
Play Sudden Death SeriesStart a series
- Create or join a multiplayer room with at least 2 players, then the host starts Sudden Death Series.
- There is no solo version of the series.
- Play continues through all 10 micro-rounds once the series begins.
Ten micro-rounds
Each micro-round gives everyone the same fresh 4×4 board and a 30-second clock. Words must be at least 3 letters long, use a valid adjacent trace without reusing a tile, and appear in the active Wordrush dictionary.
Accepted words score their normal length-squared points and are tallied across the whole series for the results.
Strikes and duplicates
A rejected non-duplicate word ends the current micro-round and gives the submitting player one strike. A duplicate word is rejected without a strike, so reusing your own word is safe for your standing.
A micro-round can also simply run out of time or be skipped by the host; neither gives anyone a strike. After a short standings break, the next micro-round starts automatically on a new board.
Winning the series
After the tenth micro-round, the player with the fewest strikes wins. Players tied on the lowest strike count share the win. If fewer than 2 players remain active, the series is cancelled.
