How to Play Sudden Death

Sudden Death is a high-stakes Wordrush round: one invalid word ends it, so every trace matters.

The fixed round

A new 5×5 board is yours for 3 minutes.
Words must be at least 3 letters long and come from the active Wordrush dictionary.
Each accepted word scores its length squared: 3 letters are 9 points, 4 are 16, and 5 are 25.

One bad trace ends the round

If a trace fails — a broken path, a word that is too short, or a word missing from the dictionary — the round ends at once. The score you built up to that point stands.

A word you already found is only a duplicate: it is rejected and scores 0, but duplicates do not end the round. Only an invalid, non-duplicate word triggers Sudden Death.

In multiplayer the player who submits the fatal word loses and the round ends for the room. Every remaining player survives; if two or more are still in, they share the win.

When the round ends

The round ends when an invalid non-duplicate word is submitted, or when the 3-minute timer reaches zero. In solo play you can also choose End Round early.
