How to play a round

Get a board

Choose a mode and begin when the board appears. Classic uses a 4×4 board and a two-minute round. Other modes can change the pace or format, so check the mode's instructions before you start.

Trace your words

Press or drag from one letter tile to the next, then release to submit. Neighboring tiles count, including diagonals, but you cannot use the same tile twice in one word. WordRush currently accepts words of at least three letters. Accepted words add points immediately; normal scoring is the word's length squared, so a three-letter word is worth 9 points, a four-letter word 16 and a five-letter word 25.

Beat the clock

Keep scanning and tracing until the round ends. Try short paths first, then look again for longer words you may have missed. When time is up, check your result and choose another board or mode if you want to play again.

Free to play, nothing to install

WordRush is free to play in your browser, and you do not need to download an app or create an account to start. Open the game, choose a mode and play. Signing in is optional; it lets you keep a username, avatar and stats with your account across devices.
